UPDATE at 3:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. The Routt County Coroner has confirmed the death of Jordan Antonio Gutierrez Castrillo, as the body that was found along Walton Creek Road Thursday afternoon. Castrillo was 30-years-old from Saratoga, Wyoming. He had been reported missing on Nov. 5, to Steamboat Springs Police. A missing person flyer had also been posted on social media.
An autopsy will be done in Fort Collins.

Body Found Along Walton Creek This Afternoon
Identity of Individual Confirmed and Next of Kin Notified
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-November 7, 2024-The Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) responded to an unattended death this afternoon, Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 4:11 pm near the intersection of Owl Hoot Trail and Walton Creek Road.
SSPD has identified the deceased individual found today and next of kin has been notified. Detectives confirmed the identity as a man who was previously reported missing on November 5 by Law Enforcement officials from Saratoga, Wyoming. According to the missing person’s report, the male party was a resident of Saratoga and had been known to frequently visit Steamboat Springs.
The cause of death is still unknown, and detectives will review findings from the medical examiner. Currently, there are no indications of foul play; however, the investigation remains ongoing. If anyone has additional information concerning this incident, please contact SSPD at 970.879.4344.

A body was discovered in the water along Walton Creek Road between Owl Hoot Trail and Hwy 40 Thursday afternoon.The call came in to dispatch at 4:11 p.m.
Here’s Steamboat Springs Police Detective Tabitha Alt with a statement.
“After officers responded to an unattended death today at 4:11 p.m. near the intersection of Owl Hoot Trail and Walton Creek Road, they confirmed that there is a deceased individual. At this time, there is no signs of suspicious activity or foul play. The identify of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing and we are working closely with the medical examiner and officers to determine the cause of death. We ask for the public’s patience and cooperation as we complete the necessary steps. Further details will be released as they become available.”
As Detective Alt confirmed, the body has not been identified. She expects more details should be made available on Friday.
The body was found in the water next to Casey’s Pond. A spokesperson for Casey’s Pond told Steamboat Radio News at 6 p.m. that all staff and residents are accounted for.
